The Humboldt Forum occupies the reconstructed Berlin Palace on Schlossplatz, opened in stages between 2020 and 2022. Its 2nd and 3rd floors hold the Ethnological Museum and the Museum of Asian Art, around 20,000 objects that range from the Sanchi Gate and the Turfan cave paintings to a Japanese tea house, presented with attention to provenance and colonial history. The 1st floor houses the BERLIN GLOBAL exhibition and the free Humboldt Lab, while free displays across the building trace 800 years of the site's history, from the palace cellars to the Palace of the Republic.
