Young Visions from Neukölln: eleven young people on today's injustices and a fairer future. Visitors can take a seat on the throne. In BERLIN GLOBAL.
The throne in this room has a toilet seat built into it. Sit down, and the young people who made the room invite you to reject what's wrong with the world and work out your own fixes. The building is a rebuilt royal palace, and this is the throne it ended up with.
Eleven children and teenagers from Neukölln made it with the Bürgerstiftung Neukölln, in one of three Open Spaces that BERLIN GLOBAL hands to Berlin groups for about 18 months. Their comments and wishes for the future hide behind small doors in a wall. You also hear 16 sound portraits of Neuköllners on their ties to Berlin and other places, and five video clips on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, linked by the hope for a peaceful solution.
It's one room, Interconnection, on the first floor, and comes with the €9 BERLIN GLOBAL ticket (free up to 18). Texts are in German and English, and it's step-free. Book online or at the foyer box office; last entry is 17:30.
