One of this year's winning series was grown rather than printed: its designers used cress seeds to turn "Our Climate Goals" into a living image. The poster for the climate exhibition "keep cool" squeezes its text into the smallest patches of shadow.
This is the Vienna stop of a touring competition. A five-person jury, Vienna's Enrico Bravi among them, picked 100 winners from 2,297 posters made in 2025. The Swiss took 62 places, the Germans 30, and the Austrians, playing at home, eight. More than 80 per cent advertise concerts, plays and exhibitions. You'll pass stroboscopic images made with olive oil, dirt and chalk, risograph and silkscreen prints, and a May Day poster whose linked letters demand "Solidarity instead of hate speech".
It's posters only, in the MAK Plakat Forum. Curator Peter Klinger leads a tour on 4 December at 4.30pm. Entry is €19 (€18 online), under-19s are free, Tuesdays from 6 to 9pm cost €9.50, and it runs to 4 April 2027.
"Our Climate Goals" in cress
Look for the poster series sown with cress seeds, so the slogan becomes a living, growing image instead of ink on paper.
"keep cool"
A climate exhibition poster whose text has to squeeze itself into the tiniest patches of shade.
The May Day poster
Letters link arms like marchers to spell out "Solidarität statt Hetze", solidarity instead of hate speech.
"Für Alle" in lace
The words "For All" made out of lace, standing for social-democratic goals.
Salon d'Amour Amsterdam
PEACH Wien's posters are dense collages of photographs of textile performance masks.
