iFotografiska Stockholm · Södermalm
Diana Markosian's personal photographic story of separation, absence and reunion with her father.
Preview: written before the show opened
When Diana Markosian was seven, she left Moscow for California with her mother and brother, and her father stayed behind. Her mother then cut him out of every family photograph. Fifteen years later Markosian found him in Armenia, and she spent the next decade photographing the two of them trying to rebuild a relationship.
The show comes to Stockholm after Arles, Foam in Amsterdam and Fotografiska Berlin. At Foam it filled four rooms, from her father's side of the story and his search for his missing children through to the present, told in documentary photographs, family snapshots, archive material, film and Markosian's diary-like writing. In Berlin it included a large family portrait with an empty space where he had been cut out. Fotografiska Stockholm hasn't yet said what it will hang. If you own the Aperture book, one of the cut-up photographs is on its cover.
Entry is included in the 195 SEK museum ticket, and Fotografiska is open until 23:00 every day.
