A dead fish lies on a dining table as ants crawl toward it and a cocktail glass. Behind it, a nude body stands at an open window, visible only from the hips to the navel. Caroline Picard of Bay City News described the effect of these paintings as "at first taciturn, then uncanny."

This is Park's first US museum solo show, in one of YBCA's second-floor galleries. You keep finding eyes where they shouldn't be: in a cocktail glass, in a cat's water bowl, on a small second head. Mission Local saw Dalí and Picasso in them, and "a subversion of the male gaze". Ants cross several of these tables, which after the first winter rain will also be true of your kitchen counter.

Admission is $5 for now, free for 17 and under, and free for everyone on Wednesdays, open until 8pm. Tickets are onsite only. Park's film series, Through an Open Window, screens Saturdays at 2pm until 31 October; $15 includes gallery entry.
