iSan Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA)SoMa
The first exhibition of artworks from the personal collection of RM of BTS, on Floor 7. Timed tickets; member previews 1–3 October.
A giant mural of RM's handwritten notes greets you at the entrance, and the labels that follow are written in the first person. Prompts on the floor and walls ask you to look "with your eyes and heart" rather than touch.
Eight rooms fill Floor 7, holding 142 works from RM's own collection and 36 from SFMOMA: paintings, ceramics, furniture, textiles and animation. It is not a timeline of Korean art. Co-curator Hyoeun Kim told Deadline the aim was for Korean and international artists to talk to each other. The Home room is set up as a living room, with a couch, armchairs and a kitchen table, which is roomier than most SoMa apartments at current rents.
Entry is by timed ticket only: $10 on weekdays or $12 on weekends on top of museum admission, with no re-entry. Opening weekend sold out and weekday slots were still open. RM narrates the audio guide. SFMOMA is closed Wednesdays and open until 20:00 on Thursdays.
