You put on a Mixed Reality headset and the room turns into a time archive. Its walls, furniture and objects are real, and they are part of the puzzle: up to four players work together to find clues and fragments of history and mend a "fracture in time".
The story is the ground under Roma Termini, from the Baths of Diocletian through Roman neighbourhoods and villas to the Central Electrical Signal Box (ACE), a twentieth-century control cabin that Fondazione FS is restoring. The reconstructions draw on the photo and document archives of the museum and the railway foundation. The station is named after Diocletian's baths, so the half a million people who cross it each day are technically commuting through a bath house.
No reviews yet, so judge it by format: this is a team game, not a gallery. Sessions last 30 to 40 minutes, in English at 10:00, 13:00 and 16:00 and in Italian at other times. It's included in the museum ticket but needs a separate Eventbrite booking.

Through the headset, the room's real walls, furniture and objects become pieces of the game you have to search and use.
The Baths of Diocletian
The headsets rebuild the imperial bath complex that once stood on the site and gave Termini its name.
The ACE signal box
A virtual preview of the station's twentieth-century electrical control cabin, which ran Termini's rail traffic for decades and is being restored.
