Istat's centenary show: a century of Italian statistics, with an immersive hall retelling the country's history through data, plus games and visualisations.
In the Sala Fontana, a hundred years of Italy runs around you on a continuous circular ribbon of twelve projections. The installation is called "I dati della nostra storia", and it tells the country's social, economic and environmental changes since 1926 as ten themed stories built from Istat's data.
The IstatLine is a large three-dimensional timeline wall that pairs the statistics office's milestones with the country's, from its founding to artificial intelligence and big data, with films and QR codes that include content in Italian Sign Language. The backlit panels are in two languages, and interactive stations turn the data into games. Istat runs the census, so your nonna is somewhere in these hundred years of numbers.
This is the statistics office's own centenary show, so expect an institution telling its story rather than an art exhibition. Entry is free through the side door at Via Milano 13, Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 20:00, with last entry at 19:00. It closes on 2 December.

The IstatLine timeline wall
A large three-dimensional wall sets Istat's milestones beside Italy's with texts, images and films, and its QR codes open extra content, some in Italian Sign Language.
You want art: this is a statistics office's centenary show of data, timelines and projections.
Istat built interactive data games aimed at young visitors, and entry is free for everyone.
