Formerly the Kyoto Museum of Traditional Crafts (Fureaikan), this city-run museum in the basement of the Miyako Messe exhibition hall in Okazaki reopened under its current name in 2020. Its permanent display presents all 74 officially designated traditional crafts of Kyoto, from Kyo-yuzen dyeing and Kiyomizu ware to folding fans, Buddhist altars and shamisen, with process panels, tools and videos. Kyoto artisans give craft demonstrations on most days, and the MOCAD Gallery and window galleries host changing shows by craft guilds and designers.
