Hosomi Museum

Founded in 1998 in Kyoto's Okazaki cultural district, the Hosomi Museum is built on the roughly 1,000-piece Japanese art collection of Osaka industrialist Hosomi Ryo. Its holdings span Heian and Kamakura Buddhist and Shinto art, Negoro lacquer, tea kettles and Momoyama ceramics, and one of Japan's finest groups of Rimpa and Ito Jakuchu paintings. There is no permanent display: the collection and loans are shown in changing themed exhibitions. The building by Oe Tadasu reinterprets the Kyoto townhouse and holds the Kokoan tea room, a shop and JAKUCHU CAFE.
