More in Berlin

At the end of the route, Bruce Nauman walks toward the camera and tries to fit his right hand into a screen-filling cutout of his left, against a New Mexico sunset. Left and right never line up. Tacita Dean shot the silent loop for this show.

All five artists had studios in these warehouses in the early 2000s, at a euro a square metre with no heating, the Tagesspiegel reports. You walk in past Thomas Demand's forest of 270,000 paper leaves, then Henrik Håkansson's butterfly in extreme slow motion and Olafur Eliasson's dark room of trembling mirrors. Anyone who has queued for a Berlin flat viewing will find that rent the least believable thing here.

In the taz, Brigitte Werneburg found Tomás Saraceno the most impressive: a spider web grown in a glass cube and dramatically lit, beside a black widow web rewoven in rope at 16.7 times scale. Entry is €16 (€8 concessions, under-18s free), Thursdays until 20:00 through November, and free around the clock 14 to 15 November.

Look for

  • Hand On (Tacita Dean and Bruce Nauman, 2026)

Look for Nauman, against a New Mexico sunset, trying to fit his right hand into a screen-filling cutout of his left on a silent 12-minute 35mm loop beside his permanent room.

  • 14 Billions (Working Title) (Tomás Saraceno, 2010)

You walk inside a black widow's web rewoven at 16.7 times scale from black rope and more than 23,000 hand-tied knots, back on show for the first time in over a decade.

  • Clearing (Thomas Demand, 2003)

A panoramic photograph of a forest that never existed, shot from a paper model of more than 270,000 leaves that Demand built in his studio next to these halls.

  • Your psychoacoustic light ensemble (Olafur Eliasson, 2024)

In a darkened room, strings and electronics shake six large round mirrors on stands, and the light they reflect pulses and ripples across the walls.

  • The Passage (Parnassius apollo) (Henrik Håkansson, 2026)

An Apollo butterfly's flight, filmed with a high-speed camera, plays across four large screens, each showing the same moment at a different framing and frame rate.
