mumok is Austria's largest museum of modern and contemporary art, with around 12,500 works by some 1,600 artists. Its collection grew from founding acquisitions in 1959 through the Ludwig Collection, the Hahn Collection and a comprehensive holding of Viennese Actionism, with Pop Art, Fluxus and Nouveau Réalisme among its strengths. Since 2001 it has occupied a basalt-lava-clad cube by Ortner & Ortner in the MuseumsQuartier, with about 4,800 m² of galleries across several levels.
