Leopold Museum

Opened in 2001, the Leopold Museum grew out of the collection Rudolf and Elisabeth Leopold assembled over five decades, founded with the Republic of Austria and the Oesterreichische Nationalbank. Its more than 5,000 works focus on Austrian art of the first half of the 20th century, from the Secession through Expressionism. It holds the world's largest Egon Schiele collection, with more than 220 works, alongside key paintings by Gustav Klimt, Oskar Kokoschka and Richard Gerstl. The long-running presentation "Vienna 1900: Birth of Modernism" sets them among the furniture, design and ideas of the era.
