Albertina Modern is the Albertina's second Vienna venue, opened in 2020 in the historicist Künstlerhaus on Karlsplatz, built in 1865 and restored and enlarged between 2017 and 2020. It draws on a collection of more than 60,000 works by some 5,000 artists, including the Essl Collection, to stage large rotating exhibitions of modern and contemporary art across more than 2,000 m². Austrian art is a strong focus, with major holdings of Maria Lassnig, Franz West, Erwin Wurm and VALIE EXPORT, alongside international names such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Anselm Kiefer.
