Founded in 1998 by cultural patron Heeja K Chung as an extension of the Daewoo Foundation, Art Sonje Center is one of Seoul's leading noncollecting institutions for contemporary art. Its marble building in Samcheong-dong houses exhibition galleries, a lecture hall, the CineCode Sonje cinema, a restaurant and an art shop. The center focuses on experimental, boundary-pushing work across visual art, architecture, design and film, complemented by talks, screenings and educational programs.
