iNational Museum – New BuildingNové Město
Nearly 800 award-winning and nominated photojournalism images from the 31st Czech Press Photo competition, shown across nine categories in the New Building's Brutalist travertine hall.
A shirtless miner stands with his hands raised above his head, fixing a roof anchor deep in the ČSM-Sever pit at Stonava, the last working hard-coal mine in the Czech Republic. Lukáš Kaboň's picture won Photo of the Year, and his series on the mine's final months took Reportage too.
Around it hang nearly 800 photographs, picked from 5,250 entered by almost 300 photographers: winners and nominees from all nine categories, special-award picks and a selection from Czech Photo Junior. You walk from Andrej Babiš on the campaign trail to a prima ballerina's farewell to scientists measuring a melting Swiss glacier.
This is the annual survey of Czech photojournalism, and the news it covers includes Syrian refugees and Ukraine's first amputee football team. Tickets are 200 CZK (120 CZK reduced, free under 15), and it's open daily 10:00 to 18:00 until 30 November.
