The Shed is a nonprofit cultural center in Manhattan's Hudson Yards that commissions, produces, and presents original work across the performing arts, visual arts, and pop culture. Its Diller Scofidio + Renfro building features a telescoping outer shell that rolls out on rails to double the venue's footprint and form the column-free McCourt event hall. Opened in 2019, it is a non-collecting institution focused on premiering new, interdisciplinary work rather than maintaining a permanent collection.
