Dia Chelsea

ArtClosed todayFree23rd St (C, E)

Dia Chelsea is the New York City home of the Dia Art Foundation, occupying a row of connected former warehouses on West 22nd Street that were renovated and reopened in 2021. When it first opened in 1987 it was the first art museum in Chelsea and helped turn the neighborhood into a global gallery district. Rather than showing a permanent collection, Dia Chelsea presents in-depth, long-term exhibitions devoted to one or two artists at a time, alongside performances, readings, and public programs. Admission is free.
