Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía is Spain's national museum of 20th- and 21st-century art, anchoring the southern end of Madrid's Paseo del Arte alongside the Prado and Thyssen-Bornemisza. Its nearly 25,000-piece collection spans Spanish and Latin American modernism, with Picasso's Guernica as its centrepiece alongside major works by Dalí and Miró. The museum occupies the restored 18th-century Sabatini Building and Jean Nouvel's contemporary extension, and stages an active programme of contemporary temporary exhibitions.
