iCaixaForum MadridPaseo del Prado
A 70-minute immersive audiovisual journey through biodiversity, produced with National Geographic and OASIS Immersive Studios, urging action to protect the natural world.
You stand in a dark room while cells and tree roots, blown up far past their real size, spread across the walls and the floor around you. That's the middle part of a 70-minute projection show by OASIS Immersive Studios and National Geographic, winner of the 2025 Numix award for best international exhibition.
First come National Geographic photographs of animals and landscapes, cut to music. Then Alex Le Guillou's gallery of cells and roots. Émile Roy's closing film skips the doom and lists fixes that worked, and for Spain CaixaForum added the Iberian lynx, back from 94 animals in the late 1990s to 2,401 in 2024.
It works for families: under-16s go free, and after the projections there are games where you build networks of species by hand. An educator is in the room daily, 11:30 to 13:30 and 17:30 to 19:30. The show is projections and music, so come for images, not objects. The €6 ticket covers every exhibition in the building, open daily 10:00 to 20:00.
Alex Le Guillou's cell-and-root gallery
Look for microscopic cells, roots and organisms scaled up until they wrap the walls and floor around you, moving to a score by Azu Tiwaline.
The National Geographic opening
Large-format National Geographic images of landscapes, animals and natural phenomena, edited to music by Katerine Giguère and Johnny Ranger.
The leatherback turtles of Trinidad and Tobago
In Émile Roy's closing section, a local project that cut poaching of leatherback turtles from 50% to zero.
The Iberian lynx
Added for the Spanish tour: the cat's recovery from 94 animals in the late 1990s to 2,401 in 2024.
The hands-on games
After the projection rooms, two games, El equilibrio que nos sostiene and Ideas de interdependencia, have you build networks of species with your hands.
About 70 min
You want original objects: this is 70 minutes of projected images and music.
Under-16s go free. A €4 family visit with nature games runs until 19 February 2027, and the school programme starts at age four.
