Preview: written before the show opened

The title is a line from the poet Adília Lopes, and the museum frames the show around it: works about spotting a problem, watching a conflict escalate, and looking for a way out. Adriana Proganó's Kiss, from 2020, is the one work Culturgest has named so far.

The occasion is the 150th anniversary of Caixa Geral de Depósitos. Newly acquired works hang in Gallery 2 in dialogue with older pieces from the bank's collection, which Culturgest says runs to roughly 1,800 works in painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, video and installation. It has not opened yet, so there are no reviews.

Most banks mark 150 years with a commemorative pen; this one bought art. Admission is €4 and free on Sundays. The opening is on Friday 13 November at 10pm. Guided tours run on Saturdays at 4pm: 21 November and 20 February with Ana Gonçalves, 5 December and 30 January with the curator Filipa da Rocha Nunes and Portuguese Sign Language, and 13 February with audio description.

Editor's pick

Caixa Geral de Depósitos turns 150 and shows new additions to its art collection beside works it already owns. The title, from the poet Adília Lopes, is a bold one for a bank: Heaven on Earth Cannot Wait.
