More in Amsterdam

Foam's page for this show leads with a picture from Amizmiz, Morocco, 2025: a smiling sitter in front of a painted studio backdrop of mountains, a waterfall, flowers and an eagle.

The photographs come from Middle East Archive's book Al Nisa / Women, which gathers 72 photographers, archival and contemporary, from across the MENA region. Here it is split across two spots in Amsterdam-West, far from Foam's canal houses. At MAQAM, on Jan van Schaffelaarplantsoen, the group show is printed large on the building's windows, so you see it from the pavement. The prints inside hang among MAQAM's own programme and are only on view when another event is on. On Mercatorplein, out in the open square, Yomna El Beyaly shows In Her Own Way, made in Cairo: women on pink sofas, scrolling their phones under floral decor.

Both parts are free. The Mercatorplein half closes on 29 October; MAQAM's runs until 20 December. To see the indoor prints, check MAQAM's agenda and come for an event.
