The 16th-century home of the Grimani of Santa Maria Formosa, remodelled by the brothers Vettore and Patriarch Giovanni Grimani in a rare Tuscan-Roman Renaissance style and lavishly decorated with frescoes and stuccoes by Giovanni da Udine, Camillo Mantovano and Federico Zuccari. Acquired by the Italian state in 1981 and opened as a museum in 2008, it displays Patriarch Giovanni's collection of classical sculpture in the Pantheon-inspired Tribuna and the rooms of the piano nobile. Temporary exhibitions pairing antiquity with contemporary art run through the year.
