Ca' Pesaro is a monumental Baroque palace on the Grand Canal, designed by Baldassarre Longhena for the Pesaro family from 1659 and completed by Gian Antonio Gaspari in 1710. Since 1902, following the bequest of Duchess Felicita Bevilacqua La Masa, it has housed the City of Venice's International Gallery of Modern Art, built largely on purchases from the early Venice Biennales. The collection spans 19th- and 20th-century painting and sculpture, from Rodin's The Thinker and Klimt's Judith II to Chagall, Kandinsky and Morandi, plus major donations of post-war and American contemporary art. The top floor holds the separate Museum of Oriental Art.
