Tokyo Station Gallery occupies part of the restored Marunouchi Building at Tokyo Station, designed by Kingo Tatsuno and reopened in 2012 after a six-and-a-half-year restoration. Its galleries are built around the station's original 1914 brick and steel structure, giving exhibitions a distinctive industrial-heritage backdrop. Programming rotates several times a year through modern art reappraisals, railway/architecture/design shows, and contemporary art. The museum is operated by the East Japan Railway Culture Foundation.
