21_21 DESIGN SIGHT is a design museum in the Midtown Garden of Tokyo Midtown, Roppongi, opened in 2007 and designed by architect Tadao Ando with fashion designer Issey Miyake as founding director. Its folded-steel roof, inspired by Miyake's "A Piece of Cloth" (A-POC) concept, sits atop a structure that is roughly 80% below ground. The venue runs rotating thematic exhibitions in Gallery 1 & 2 exploring how design shapes daily life, alongside smaller collaborative shows in Gallery 3.
