Founded in 1866, Sweden's national museum of history holds over ten million objects, from the Stone Age to the present day. Its highlights are The Viking World, with more than two thousand Viking Age objects, and the Gold Room, an underground vault of Migration Period gold collars, Viking silver and medieval reliquaries. Galleries of medieval church art, prehistory and a chronological History of Sweden complete the 1930s-40s building on Narvavägen. Entry is free for everyone under 19.
