The poster image is Roberto García-Roa's close-up of a lizard's head, Enyalioides heterolepis. It's one of about 30 photographs by seven nature photographers, chosen by the Spanish Society for Evolutionary Biology. Many of the photographers trained as scientists, and several have published in leading magazines and won national and international prizes.

The pictures of amphibians, reptiles, birds and insects hang in five sections: the habitat as an "ecological little theatre", coevolution, sexual selection (Darwin's term), social evolution and the Anthropocene. You start with camouflage, see-through bodies and the loud warning colours some animals wear to put predators off, then move on to couples, families and the advantages of living in a group. The last section covers habitat loss, climate change and extinction, and the show closes on the organisers' view that life, driven by evolution, will keep finding a way.

It's in the museum's main building, with wall texts in Spanish and English. Entry is on the general ticket: €7, or €3.50 reduced.
