iMuseo Lázaro GaldianoSalamanca
An outdoor sculpture exhibition in the museum gardens, staged with Arte Madrid for the Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend festival.
In the garden of the Lázaro Galdiano there are fried eggs made from porcelain cisterns and ping-pong balls. They are Josep Maynou's Huevos fritos (2025), one of thirteen sculptures spread around Parque Florido, the palace garden, for Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend. Madrid takes its fried eggs seriously, and these are the only ones you can't mop up with bread.
The curator, Begoña Torres, sets the grid against what escapes it: the body, memory, chance. You walk past rusted corten steel by Carlos Albert and Mar Solís, a single white Carrara marble curve by Andreu Alfaro from 1989, and a tower of used farm hoes lacquered black by Nuno Nunes-Ferreira. Two pieces were made for this garden: Sandra del Val's glazed tile panels and Dagoberto Rodríguez's Lego-inspired Bloques.
It's free and entirely outdoors. The garden keeps the museum's hours: Tuesday to Sunday 9:30 to 15:00, plus 16:30 to 19:30 Tuesday to Friday, until 15 November.
Huevos fritos, Josep Maynou
Fried eggs built from porcelain cisterns and ping-pong balls, which the artist means as the threshold between control and chance.
Torre Bela, Nuno Nunes-Ferreira
A tower of used hoes in black-lacquered iron, a tribute to the documentary about the 1975 peasant occupation of the Torre Bela estate.
Bloques (I, II and III), Dagoberto Rodríguez
Made for this garden, these blocks borrow the look of Lego bricks to talk about play, architecture and politics.
Afrodita IV, Andreu Alfaro
A 1989 piece in white Carrara marble that reduces the figure to a single curve.
Rito de paso, Pedro Calapez
Painted aluminium arranged like a visual maze that reflects whoever walks through it.
You want shelter from the weather: all thirteen pieces stand outdoors in the garden.
