A replica of a quantum supercomputer from the Barcelona Supercomputing Center stands near real quantum chips made by Spanish companies: ICFO, Qilimanjaro, IFAE and Quside. That is where the story ends up. It starts with 17th-century editions of Galileo.

In between are more than 120 works: historical scientific pieces, immersive installations, audiovisuals and interactive displays. Curator Sonia Fernández-Vidal, who holds a doctorate in quantum optics, chose to multiply the languages used to explain it instead of relying on equations. The dotdotdot collective built an interactive device on Einstein's photoelectric effect. You already carry the semiconductors this show explains: Metro Line 1 at Callao is quantum mechanics with a podcast on.

Entry is free, on the third floor. It closes on Sunday 11 October. Hours are Tuesday to Friday 10:00 to 20:00 and weekends 11:00 to 20:00. The Quantum Lens VR piece was listed as under maintenance.

Over 120 objects, installations and interactive displays follow quantum physics from early 20th-century discoveries to lasers, semiconductors and quantum computers. Free, and the story ends up inside the phone in your pocket.

Look for

  • Galileo editions

Seventeenth-century editions of Galileo open the show, at the point where classical physics still held.

  • Replica quantum supercomputer

A replica of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center's quantum machine, shown beside real chips from ICFO, Qilimanjaro, IFAE and Quside.

  • Photoelectric effect device

An interactive piece by the dotdotdot collective lets you try the effect Einstein won his Nobel for.

  • fuse* Multiverse

An immersive installation built around the parallel realities that one reading of quantum theory suggests.
