Casa Fernando Pessoa occupies the building where Portugal's great modernist poet lived from 1920 until his death in 1935, and opened to the public in 1993 as a "house of poetry". Its long-term exhibition, spread over three floors, introduces Pessoa's heteronyms, displays Almada Negreiros's portrait of the poet, reconstructs his apartment and shows his private library, classified as a National Treasure. A temporary exhibition space, a public poetry library and a regular programme of readings and events complete the house.
