October 2026

October in Florence belongs to Palazzo Pitti. The Costume and Fashion Museum shows Ferdinando Sarmi's New York couture beside its rehung century of dresses, and the Palatine Gallery's Niche Room holds sixteen pieces of royal furniture. The Vasari Corridor still opens on Friday evenings, no Uffizi visit attached, and with October's earlier dusk the Ponte Vecchio below is already lit.

Editor's picks for October 2026

Vasari Corridor · Fridays until 20 November

Vasari Corridor: Friday Evening Opening

Thirty-five minutes along the full 750-metre passage in groups of about thirty, looking down on a lit Ponte Vecchio. No Uffizi visit needed first, so this is the corridor on its own.

Uffizi Gallery · Until 31 December

At the Pitti Palace: The "Very Best" of the King's Furniture

Sixteen pieces from three dynasties in the Palatine Gallery's Niche Room, including Socci's mechanical writing desk and a cabinet built as a miniature of the Pitti facade: the palace's souvenir, centuries before the gift shop.

Palazzo Medici Riccardi · Until 5 January

Oltre il Rinascimento: Tra Dürer e Parmigianino

Dürer's Rhinoceros and a surviving Cranach woodblock lead about 150 European prints, many from Georg Baselitz's collection, begun with one sheet in 1964. Four of his sculptures stand among them. Nearly all of it is on paper.
