The Hirschsprung Collection

Founded on the private collection of tobacco manufacturer Heinrich Hirschsprung and his wife Pauline, the museum opened in 1911 in a classical pavilion in the Østre Anlæg park. It covers Danish art of the 19th and early 20th centuries, from C.W. Eckersberg and Christen Købke to Anna and Michael Ancher and P.S. Krøyer. It holds one of the world's largest groups of works by Vilhelm Hammershøi and the largest Krøyer collection outside Skagen, alongside furniture, letters and sketchbooks from the artists.
