Markele Cullins, Jibade-Khalil Huffman, Steffani Jemison and Rindon Johnson use performance, installation and screen-based work to turn the gaze into a negotiation rather than a position of mastery.

The image the Carpenter Center chose for this show is a gameplay still from You Are Here (2026), a video game by Jibade-Khalil Huffman, a writer and artist who works across photography, video and games. He shows alongside Markele Cullins, Steffani Jemison and Rindon Johnson.
The museum describes a space of screens, installations you take in with your body and viewing set-ups that make you work out where to stand and look. Expect wall text heavy on film theory: suture, the gaze, misrecognition.
Entry is free, Tuesday to Sunday, 12 to 5pm. Opening night, 22 October, starts at 6pm with a screening and a talk between Jemison and Huffman in the lower-level theater, then a reception on Level 1 until 9. On 19 November Jemison performs Cynosure at Harvard ArtLab, a piece built on the children's game Marco Polo; RSVP through the Carpenter Center's site.
