This restored 1858 townhouse on Bond Street was the final home of William Lyon Mackenzie, journalist, Toronto's first mayor and leader of the 1837 Rebellion. Saved from demolition in 1936 while his grandson William Lyon Mackenzie King was Prime Minister, it is now one of the City of Toronto's history museums, exploring Mackenzie's story and gritty Victorian Toronto. The historic house is currently under restoration; the print shop, with its 1845 press, stays open for free drop-in printing workshops.
