Founded in 1900, the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) is one of the largest art museums in North America, with around 45,000 square metres of space in the Grange Park neighbourhood of downtown Toronto. Its collection runs from European old masters and the Thomson Collection to Indigenous and Canadian art in the J.S. McLean Centre, modern and contemporary work, and photography. Frank Gehry's 2008 transformation added the sweeping glass-and-Douglas-fir Galleria Italia along Dundas Street, and the 19th-century Grange house sits behind the museum.
