The Battlebox is a former underground command bunker built beneath Fort Canning Hill in the late 1930s, once housing the headquarters of Malaya Command. It was here, on 15 February 1942, that Lieutenant-General Arthur Percival and his officers decided to surrender Singapore to the Japanese. Sealed and forgotten for decades, the bunker was rediscovered in 1988 and now operates as a museum with restored rooms, wax figures, projection displays and an audio-guided tour retelling the final days of the Battle of Singapore.
