Pinacoteca Ambrosiana

Founded in 1618 by Cardinal Federico Borromeo alongside the Biblioteca Ambrosiana, this is one of Milan's oldest public art galleries. Its rooms hold Caravaggio's Basket of Fruit, Leonardo da Vinci's Portrait of a Musician, Raphael's full-size cartoon for the School of Athens, and works by Titian, Botticelli, Bramantino, Luini and Jan Brueghel. Pages of Leonardo's Codex Atlanticus are shown on rotation, and a combined ticket adds the medieval Crypt of San Sepolcro nearby.
