This INBAL museum at the western end of the Alameda Central was built to house Diego Rivera's 1947 fresco 'Sueño de una tarde dominical en la Alameda Central', rescued from the quake-wrecked Hotel del Prado and moved here in one 12-hour operation in December 1986. Opened in 1988, it displays the 15.6-metre mural, crowded with more than 150 figures from Mexican history including Rivera, Frida Kahlo, José Guadalupe Posada and La Catrina, alongside temporary exhibitions, talks and concerts.
