Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek

Founded by Carlsberg brewer Carl Jacobsen and opened in 1897, the Glyptotek houses one of northern Europe's great collections of ancient sculpture, from Egypt and the Near East to Greece, Etruria, Rome and Palmyra. Its French and Danish holdings include Rodin, Degas's bronzes, Impressionist paintings and one of the world's finest Gauguin collections. The building by Vilhelm Dahlerup and Hack Kampmann centres on a domed winter garden with palm trees and a rooftop terrace overlooking Tivoli.
