The artist putting this show together is worried about it working too well. Perejaume writes that Josep Maria Jujol's work is so fragile and scattered that it "would not withstand the impact of the mass audience it has begun to receive", so his aim is to exhibit without overexposing. Jujol's collaboration with Gaudí was fundamental to both architects, and this show is trying not to hand him Gaudí's queues too.

What's new is the archive. Jujol's family gave his complete documentary collection, more than 10,000 papers, objects and pieces of furniture, to the museum and Catalonia's architects' college, and it is shown here for the first time. You get Jujol the craftsman as much as the architect, set beside works by Gaudí, Bruno Taut, Vladimir Tatlin and Matisse.

It runs from 26 November to 29 March in the Palau Nacional, and Tarragona's Museu d'Art Modern adds a section on his projects around Tarragona. If you can't wait, the museum's permanent collection has had a Jujol space since 2014.

Look for

  • The tapestry for the 1907 Floral Games

One of the large banners Jujol made for Barcelona's 1907 Jocs Florals poetry contest: two red crosses and dark Gothic lettering on a pale ground, hung from four openwork triangles of cord.

  • The Letter J

A small sheet from the family donation where a blue crayon J sits inside a looping frame of blue and red knots.
