iLiljevalchs konsthall · Djurgården
Ylva Snöfrid's largest show yet: a Gesamtkunstwerk of 400 paintings, sketches, objects and painted furniture across thirteen galleries, one per muse or element.
At the entrance you're handed a deck of tarot-style cards, each one a ritual. In room 12, dedicated to air, a card tells you to lie on the floor, close your eyes and "feel the atoms". In another room a guard helps out and hands you a mask from a cabinet.
Snöfrid has moved her home in: around 400 paintings, thousands of drawings and prints, and furniture coated in oil paint, across thirteen rooms, one per muse or element. The sofas in room 1 are built from her paintings. The last room's floor is The Dream Rite, a new painting suite you're invited to walk and dance on.
Kunstkritikk's critic found the first hours claustrophobic, with every shelf, sofa and bed being art, until he started on the cards: "what a release!" He managed seven of the 33. Entry is 165 kr, free for under-18s and for everyone on Mondays, with late opening to 20:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The hall is closed 12 and 13 October.
The artist's room (room 1)
Look for self-portraits with gaping, toothy mouths, two portraits of a donkey, and sofas built from Snöfrid's paintings at tables her children have drawn on.
The air room (room 12)
Lie on the floor beside a sea-blue rectangle framed by green-blue fields, and a pale sky-blue canvas hung near the floor whose big black dot looks like it's cracking.
The mask ritual
A guard hands you a mask from the mask cabinet, and you look at still lifes of poppies, cannulas and canine teeth through it.
The Dream Rite (room 13)
A new painting suite spread across the whole floor of the last room, which visitors may step on and dance across.
You want art kept at arm's length: the cards ask you to sit, lie down and wear a mask.
Under-18s get in free, and the hall has pushchair access and lifts between floors. Rituals on the cards include drawing, painting and resting in a bed.
