Designed by Zaha Hadid and opened in 2014, the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) is the world's largest three-dimensional freeform building, its seamless curved shell of 45,133 aluminum panels wrapping 86,575 square meters of exhibition halls, a design museum, conference and market spaces, and a rooftop park. Built on the site of Seoul's former Dongdaemun Stadium, it has become the city's flagship hub for design culture, hosting fashion weeks, design fairs, product launches and the recurring Seoul Light DDP media-art festival, which projects large-scale digital artworks across its facade after dark. Entry to the building, grounds and Design Store is free; individual exhibitions and events inside its halls are ticketed separately.
