MUDEC, Milan's Museum of Cultures, opened in 2015 in the former Ansaldo industrial complex on Via Tortona, redesigned by David Chipperfield around a luminous, four-lobed glass atrium called the Agorà. Its civic collection of over 9,000 objects spans Africa, Asia, Oceania and the Americas, shown in the free permanent display "Global Milan. The World Seen from Here" and in visitable storerooms. Alongside it, MUDEC stages major ticketed exhibitions and the annual Deutsche Bank Artist of the Year show.
