Opened in 1964 and designed by Pedro Ramírez Vázquez and Rafael Mijares, the MAM is the INBAL's museum of 20th-century and contemporary Mexican art, set in the first section of Bosque de Chapultepec. Its collection spans the Mexican School to the Ruptura generation and beyond, anchored by Frida Kahlo's Las dos Fridas and works by Rivera, Siqueiros, Orozco, Tamayo, Remedios Varo, Leonora Carrington and María Izquierdo. A dedicated gallery for photography honours Manuel Álvarez Bravo, and the surrounding sculpture garden is one of the most important in Latin America.
