Opened in June 2023 after a construction process spanning nearly two decades, the Galería de las Colecciones Reales displays part of Patrimonio Nacional's 155,000-piece royal collection, with works spanning the 12th to 19th centuries. The granite-clad building, built into the hillside below the Royal Palace on Cuesta de la Vega, holds paintings by Velázquez, Caravaggio and Titian alongside royal armour, tapestries and ceremonial carriages. It stands beside the Royal Palace and Almudena Cathedral on the Plaza de la Armería; a combined ticket covering the Palace and Gallery costs €24 (€12 reduced).
