Raku Museum

Opened in 1978 by Kakunyū, the 14th head of the Raku family, the museum stands beside the family's home and workshop in Kamigyo. Its collection of about 900 pieces holds tea bowls by every generation from the founder Chōjirō onward, plus tea utensils and family documents kept as models for each new generation. There is no permanent display: the collection is shown in changing seasonal exhibitions, and some programmes let visitors handle the bowls.
