The Nationalgalerie's museum of classical modernism, built on dealer Heinz Berggruen's collection, with over 100 works by Picasso plus major groups by Paul Klee, Henri Matisse and Alberto Giacometti, housed in the western Stüler building opposite Charlottenburg Palace. The museum has been closed since 5 September 2022 for a full renovation of the Stüler building, and no reopening date has been announced. During the closure the collection is on an international tour (most recently at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, through 13 September 2026); nothing from it is currently on view in Berlin. The neighbouring Sammlung Scharf-Gerstenberg remains open.
