Hugo Ball and Emmy Hennings founded Cabaret Voltaire on 5 February 1916, and the Dada movement grew out of its evenings of sound poetry, dance and music. The house at Spiegelgasse 1 reopened in 2004 and runs changing exhibitions in its vaulted cellar, a bar and cafe, and a programme of readings and performances. Entry to the house is free, and the cellar exhibitions carry a small ticket.
