Founded in 1861 and housed in the Gothic-origin Palazzo Giustinian on the Murano canal, the Museo del Vetro tells the story of Venetian glassmaking from antiquity to the present. Highlights include Roman glass from Dalmatian necropolises, the enamelled Renaissance Barovier Cup, filigree and ice glass, and 20th-century pieces by Venini, Martinuzzi and Scarpa. The adjoining Spazio Conterie, a former glass-bead factory, hosts temporary exhibitions. It is run by the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia (MUVE).
